I had some free time before getting my haircut on Friday and since it was such a beautiful Spring evening, I walked over to Stockinette just to kill some time. But we all know that never works, so I purchased the Cascade 220 that I needed to make the Wool Peddler's Shawl and it is now on my needles. It's very simple and the lace edging doesn't look too difficult. Hope to have this finished soon.
I hate to admit defeat but I cannot start the Fauxbius again and the Malabrigo yarn is just too beautiful to leave sitting in a bag. The color theme of this mailing was green. And I love green.

But at the moment I am not loving the green Fauxbius.
I have tried too many times to get the rhythm of this pattern, with no success.
I don't want be a complete failure and since the purpose of my joining the lace club was to knit lace, I am attempting another lace project. I pulled out Cheryl Oberle's Folk Shawls Book and started to knit The Box Lace Shawl and am much happier now. It is on my needles and I am going happily along.
I hate to admit defeat but I am coming close to it. I have attempted the Embrace the Lace Fauxbious three times now and my stitch count is off. Before I use the yarn for some other project I have put the kit aside and I'll try again when I can find a completely quiet place, with no distractions, to work on this project. It's not that I don't know what I'm doing but after my last attempt, while knitting row six , I was off two stitches and completely frustrated. The only thing I can think of now is to write out the pattern from the graph.
So in my frustration, I pulled out my book, Last Minute Knitted Gifts, and decided to use my precious red cashmere to make the simple cowl rather than the lacy one I had planned to make from the Purl Bee. Now I can actually sit and enjoy some simple knitting.
I couldn't wait to open up my Embrace the Lace box from Woolgirl.com.. This is the first time I have joined a knitting club and I'm so glad I did. The box contained this beautiful package.
And when I opened the bag, I found all these goodies inside.

Three of us are beginning the wrap tonight, a faux mobius (or if you are very ambitious a real one). Last night I wound the wool and did the cast on...a little more than 350 stitches.
I am just hoping the pattern isn't too difficult but with three of working on this pattern, I am sure we will get through it just fine.
I was so good with my purchases over the past few months that I guess my shopping gene just couldn't hold back anymore because today my "Knit Kit" arrived. I had preordered it when I first saw it advertised and I realize now it was an impulse purchase. It's a good concept, but I am concerned how well it will hold up.
Another purchase arrived this week. My knitting books. I love all three and I am so glad I made these purchases. Boutique Knits has amazing designs inside. Folk Shawls is more than I expected and the lace & eyelets book is excellent.
The only thing left is my sea silk and then I am done with shopping and will be busy knitting.
