Well, I missed Stitches East. Instead, I was home for two weeks recovering from an ill-timed and unexpected surgery. The first week I was so uncomfortable, I didn't even pick up my needles. But I did make up for it by completing my first Clapotis, using Kahmandu DK, Queensland Collection (85 Merino, 10% Silk and 5% Cashmere , which I had purchased at WEBS.
(The pattern is available for free on Knitty.) But to be honest, the only way I was able to knit it so easily and complete it so quickly was due to the genius of knitting friend who had worked out an entire worksheet for the pattern.
Last month, I received two beautiful skeins of Malabrigo Silky Merino from my swap partner. I was anxious to use this beautiful fiber and so I searched through Ravelry to find a pattern for Malabrigo and was rewarded with this scarf pattern, which was perfect as it only required two skeins. The pattern is called Just Enough Ruffles by Laura Chau. It took me two evenings to complete the scarf and I am happy the weather has turned cold because it is so soft and warm that I can't wait to wear it.
And there is still one more project that I completed while I was home. I finished knitting my Bucket Bag while I was home. Here it is before the felting process. It's huge. I am hoping to get through the felting process this weekend.
I just want to end this post by saying that I tried on the sweater shawl I am knitting and after completing almost two thirds of the shawl, I have decided that I really, really don't like the way it looks on me....so I am in the process of deciding what to knit with all this yarn. I am sure there is enough to make a variety of items.
