It’s been a great July with
fireworks...
trips to the beach…

birthday celebrations… at home...

and
and lots and lots of ice cream

In between all this celebrating, I have been trying to complete one project before beginning another. (This goes against my very nature.) However, the positive side of this is I have a lot fewer knitting bags lying around the house with half finished projects and at the same time, I have also been using up my stash on these projects.
I have completed my second Sprung Shawl.
I used what was left in my stash, but I think the yarn
was too heavy. I am going to make another using a lighter weight yarn. I think the lighter the weight the better it will drape. The true color is the blocked one. I don't know why the hanging version came out a bit purple.
And after a week of ripping and a lot of swearing, I finally finished Judy Pascal’s Shapely Shawlette.
I am so in love with this Shawlette that I want to make it in all different colors.
I had this yarn in my stash for years
and
I’m glad I had saved it, because it knitted up beautifully for this
project. Unfortunately, over the years, I lost the label and have no
idea of the fiber make-up. It feels like silk but someone in my
knitting group thought it was a cotton mix.
Whatever it is, I love it and can’t wait to wear it. I have the pattern for the eyelet Shawlette, which will be one of my next projects.
I have also been busy making scarves to be sent to St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York. The scarves are distributed to those in need at Christmas.
When I'm not on Ravelry, I am busy buying and downloading patterns on patternfish.com. I am anxious to start new projects, but I’m holding back from purchasing yarn since this Saturday I am off to Web’s on a Big Apple Knitting Guild bus trip. I’ll have all my patterns in hand and ready to shop when we arrive. The nice thing about the bus trip is there is plenty of time for knitting on the way up and back.
I’ll report back next week to let you know all about the store and trip.
